Sumac’s Bio

Sumac the Daughter of Legendary Blues man “Craig Horton.” Sumac was born and raised in Arkansas and have been pumping up the Blues, R&B, Jazz and Gospel all over the states. She has developed into her own style of soul and blues singing, wowing crowds with her exciting live shows. She currently resides in Brentwood, CA.

Singing in church and school talent shows from an early age, she has worked her way up to Nightclubs, Festivals, State Fairs and Special Events all over the Bay Area, including a tour to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Cozumel, Mexico. She also, was the featured vocalist at Oakland Raiders rallies and has opened for the great Millie Jackson in 1988.

Sumac has performed with several bands playing all over California until an almost deadly accident occurred for her in 1999 and another one in 2002. Since then, Sumac formed her soulful sounds of “Sumac’s Soul Heaven Band.”

Sumac has performed in local areas such as the Liberty House Restaurant, Pittsburg Yacht Club New Year Eve’s Party in 2004,
Downtown Café, all in Pittsburg, CA. , Rossellas Jazz Room, Fillmore Jazz Festival, in San Francisco, CA., Roseville Friday Night Live TV Shows in Roseville, CA, Fillmore Jazz Festival, Prewett Water Park Concert Series and headlined the 20th Annual Rivertown Jamboree Festival, in Antioch, CA, Sacramento Hertiage Festival, Sacramento, CA and now she has entering Memphis, TN with her band to compete in the 22nd 2006 International Battle of the Blues Challenge competing against hundreds of bands from around the world taking her original songs “My California Blues” and “I Rather have a Stranger”.
